Half Dome, located within the boundaries of Yosemite National Park, is also known for its granite slopes and cable route. Though each year many people complete the route, there are also accidents caused by poor weather conditions, falling on granite, lightning strikes, illness, or rock climbing accidents. To date, 25 deaths have occurred on the popular route and cables of Half Dome, and a cumulative number of deaths reaching 65 when the Mist Trail route is also included.
