Angels Landing in Zion National Park is known for its narrow sandstone ridges, chain assist climbs, and scenic canyon views. Though it’s an adventure every hiker would want to undertake, the trail has seen 18 deaths as of 2026, primarily related to falls on the cliff faces. Although the new permit system, which came into effect in 2022, helps to manage the crowds, one still needs to exercise caution while hiking the trail. It’s necessary to wear proper hiking shoes, have good weather, and always support oneself with the chains in order to have a safe hike. Despite the risks, this remains one of the most exciting trails in the park.
