Komodo National Park is one of only a few places in the world where you will be able to see natural pink sand beaches. Two of the most famous are on Padar Island and Komodo Island; each offers a different experience. Padar's beach is brighter and more colored, while the beach on Komodo Island is against dramatic green hills and has beautiful viewpoints.
Most travelers start their journeys in Labuan Bajo, a small gateway town with an airport, hotels, and boat tours. From here, day trips and speedboat tours take visitors to the islands, combining pink beaches with highlights such as the Padar Viewpoint, snorkeling spots, and dragon-watching tours.
The pink sand is a result of tiny red coral organisms mixed with white sand, something which hardly ever happens and forms a beauty to behold. Whether it is for photo shoots, swimming, or just a laid-back beach stop, Komodo's pink beaches are truly unique and special, quite different from most other places around the world.
