Petra is an ancient city that has been excavated from rose-colored rocks, located in southern Jordan. It remains one of the greatest archaeological sites around the world today. Most tourists visit Petra by coming from Amman and accessing the site by walking along the main trail, which passes through the narrow gorge known as "Siq," followed by the Treasury.

You can visit Petra solo or take a guided tour, depending on your budget and preference. The area is quite large, and a minimum of a day will be required to cover the key points such as the Treasury, the Royal Tombs, and the Monastery. The signs are clear, and there are plenty of spots to take in the views or take a camel ride.

Petra itself is safe and welcoming and not too tricky to get around, which makes it one of the must-see attractions of the Middle East for history buffs and photographers alike.
